MultiTrac® is built on the postal system’s own tracking infrastructure.
USPS Informed Visibility is the data layer that powers direct mail tracking at scale. MultiTrac® connects directly to IV data and turns it into campaign-level intelligence your team can actually use.
What Is USPS Informed Visibility?
The postal system has a tracking infrastructure. MultiTrac® is connected to it.
USPS Informed Visibility (IV) is a USPS data program that provides real-time scan-level data on mail as it moves through the postal processing system. Every time a mail piece or container is scanned at a postal facility or delivery point, that event is recorded in the IV data stream.
MultiTrac® is built on direct access to USPS IV data. When you see campaign tracking information in MultiTrac®, you’re seeing the same underlying data the postal service uses to track your campaign.

What IV Data Covers
What the Informed Visibility data stream captures.
Facility Scans
Every time mail is processed at an origin, distribution, or destination facility, that event is captured, giving you a clear picture of where your campaign is in the system.
Carrier Route Scans
At the delivery unit level, scans confirm that mail has reached the carrier who will deliver it, the clearest signal that in-home delivery is imminent.
Delivery Confirmation
Final scan events confirm delivery for tracked pieces, enabling piece-level delivery rate calculation and geographic delivery pattern analysis.
IMb & IV Setup
What your mail needs to enable Informed Visibility tracking.
To take advantage of USPS Informed Visibility data, your mail pieces need to carry an Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMb). The IMb is the machine-readable barcode on each piece that links it to USPS tracking systems and enables the flow of scan-event data.
Amsive can help ensure your programs are correctly set up for IMb encoding and IV data access, so you get the full tracking picture, not a partial one.

The difference between real data and an estimate.
Most direct mail in-home date estimates come from industry delivery tables, averages based on mail class and origin/destination pair. Those averages can be accurate. But they don’t know what happened with your specific campaign, in your specific markets, during your specific mail period.
USPS IV data does. That’s the difference MultiTrac® provides: not a generic estimate, but a delivery picture built from what the postal system actually did with your mail.
